STRESS ENGINEER

DESCRIPTION
Engenuity is an engineering consultancy specialising in material test and characterisation and structural analysis and development. The company has a very varied portfolio of customers in the automotive, aerospace, space, transportation and defence industries, dealing with metallic and composite structures. 

The company is looking for an experienced Stress Engineer to join the team. 

In this role you will be responsible for designing the analysis including finalising loads and boundary conditions, pass criteria, model construction and analysis, presentation of results and recommendations and other related issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Prepare Finite Element Analysis models from supplied CAD
  • Understand, design and implement loads and boundary conditions
  • Post process analysis results and interpret them in relation to the needs of the project
  • Conceive design improvements and present these to the customer
  • Produce reports of the project

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
These skills would be an advantage for the position:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Good working knowledge of FEA packages, preferably Hyperworks, Abaqus or CREO
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Analysis of composites
  • Passenger vehicle safety and crash analysis
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Some knowledge of CAD packages, preferably CREO
  • Good working knowledge of explicit, non-linear Abaqus or LS-Dyna
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Be able to work in a team and on own initiative

SALARY        In the range of £35k to £50K depending on experience and capability

LABORATORY MACHINIST

DESCRIPTION
Engenuity is an engineering consultancy specialising in material test and characterisation and structural analysis and development. The company has a very varied portfolio of customers in the automotive, aerospace, space, transportation and defence industries, dealing with metallic and composite structures. 

The company is looking for an experienced Laboratory Machinist to join the team. 

In this role you will work in the Specimen Preparation Area (SPA) to create material specimens ready for test, as well as assisting with the daily operation of the workshop. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual looking to forge a varied career in a laboratory workshop environment, with the ability to gain proficiency with the wider aspects of materials testing and analysis such as the operation of mechanical testing machines and data processing. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
As well as contributing to a wide range of tasks both in and around the workshop, you will be responsible for: 

  • Logging and creation of test specimens from sheet materials
  • Using a variety of power tools to prepare the test specimens to defined geometric standards
  • Recording specimen measurements prior to release to test technicians 
  • Ensuring attention to detail is maintained in all aspects of the specimen preparation
  • Operating a CNC router/milling machine & keeping equipment in a well maintained condition
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety requirements and procedures at all times
  • ​Keeping work areas in a clean and safe state

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
These skills would be an advantage for the position:

  • To have achieved 5 GCSE or equivalent passes, ideally including mathematics and physics  Or higher qualifications in the subjects of engineering, mathematics or physics 
  • Hand tool and power tool usage (from use in a professional environment) 
  • CNC machine operation (2D CAD proficiency would be beneficial for creating tooling profiles)
  • Experience in a toolmaking environment
  • Engineering drawing notation and tolerances
  • Confidence in the use of measuring instruments such as vernier callipers
  • Familiarity of working in a workshop/industrial environment
  • Knowledge of general workshop safety practices
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to solve technical problems independently
  • A knowledge of photographic techniques and digital images
  • A full driving license

SALARY        In the range of £20k to £26K depending on experience and capability
